Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to compel all local authorities to ensure that all social work management posts are held by professionally trained and accountable registered social workers.

20 March 2012: The Committee took evidence from Katherine Alexander and agreed to write to the Scottish Government, the Care Inspectorate, the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, the Scottish Social Services Council, the Association of Directors of Social Work and COSLA. 29 May 2012: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government asking that the working group on social work complaints procedures consider the issues raised in the petition. 18 September 2012: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 on the grounds that the Scottish Government is establishing a working group to produce proposals for updating the social work complaints procedures, and the petition and responses will be forwarded to the working group to be considered alongside the other consultation responses.
