Written Submissions:

To raise awareness of Strep B which most pregnant woman have never heard of and are unaware of the potential risks to newborn babies should a mother be carrying this during labour.  Also for mothers to be made aware of the symptoms of late onset Strep B, which can result in severe disabilities or death.

Please change this law!

My newborn girl has just been discharged from hospital after 2 weeks of intense drugs after strep b. She was a late onset - 10days old & not very pleasant to witness.

I had B Strep and had antibiotics in labour and got lovely Baby boy Theo. Only got tested due to discomfort down left side and urine sent to lab...if it was not that I had discomfort I would never have known and could have been a different story. UK should routinely test ALL pregnant women.

I lost by baby at 39 weeks, when my waters broke and I didn't know, letting the GBS through to her. She died hours before she was born. The first I heard of Group B Strep was when it came back on her post mortem results. More needs to be done to raise awareness and inform pregnant ladies about Group B Strep.
