Written submissions

Do you agree that the National Trust for Scotland can play a key role in Scotland’s national tourism strategy?

Are you aware of any Trust properties in your area that may be at risk of closure?

If yes, what impact do you think this may have on the local area?

A very worthy cause!

I am an NTS member of many years. Have enjoyed visiting with family members. It's easily accessible and a safe place to visit with young ones

I think Geilston is a great asset to the West of Scotland which needs more tourists and the garden is fantastic.

To close an NTS property in a popular tourist area so close to the Loch Lomond National Park, seems a retrograde step by a national heritage organisation.

The action of the NTS Trust in not fulfilling the intentions of the benefactor, will, and indeed should, cause anyone considering donating to NTS in the future, to think very hard about whether the organisation can be trusted.

The NTS could learn from NT England. Far more organised, know how to attract visitors and are much more inclusive

Geilston Gardens are a beautiful example of mature gardens and one of the few such properties that can be accessed by public transport making it a valuable resource in the west of Scotland.

It is my intention to travel and view this beautiful place. I benefit, therefore, in all sorts of ways. If that opportunity is not available, then I lose but so does Scotland because you won't get the economic benefit of tourism and neither will Scotland benefit in terms of perception of attracting future tourists. Short-sighted view by the government having long-term consequences on Scotland, locally and globally!
