28 May 2013: The Committee took evidence from Andrew Muir. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government, the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, the Law Society of Scotland, the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland and mental health charities. 1 October 2013: The Committee agreed to refer the petition, under Rule 15.6.2, to the Justice Committee as that Committee has been taking these issues forward with the Minister and the Minister has undertaken to update that Committee on developments. Link to Official Report 1 October 2013 (477KB pdf)

18 February 2014: The Justice Committee considered PE1479 by Andrew Muir on complaints about solicitors and agreed to keep the petition open and to review the position again once the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission has concluded its consultation on all of its rules, including the time bar.

3 June 2014: The Justice Committee agreed to write to the petitioner informing him of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission's (SLCC) decision to consult stakeholders on a proposal to extend the time bar policy and to write to the SLCC encouraging it to consult the petitioner on this proposal, and to keep the petition open Link to Official Report 3 June 2014 (432KB pdf)

4 November 2014: The Justice Committee agreed to to keep the petition open and await the outcome of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission's consultation on its proposal to increase the legal aid time bar from one year to three years with effect from 1 January 2015. 21 April 2015: The Justice Committee considered PE1479 by Andrew Muir on complaints about solicitors and agreed to keep the petition open until the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission's rule changes providing for a new time bar take effect in July 2015. Link to Official Report 21 April 2015

29 September 2015: The Justice Committee considered PE1479 by Andrew Muir on complaints about solicitors and agreed to write to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission seeking confirmation of when its rules on the time-barring of complaints will change and to keep the petition open until a response has been received. 5 January 2016: The Justice Committee agreed to close the petition on the basis that the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission intends to undertake a further consultation on proposed rule changes, including on the time-barring of complaints. Link to Official Report 5 January 2016
