Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to offer all women, who have suffered miscarriage, investigations following one loss through miscarriage and to review NHS Scotland’s policy on the investigation and treatment of couples who experience miscarriage to help relieve the anxiety and distress to women caused by the current guidelines.

The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (Scottish Committee), the Miscarriage Association, Tommy's and the British Medical Association Scotland. 28 January 2014: The Committee agreed to close the petition, under Rule 15.7, on the basis that the Scottish Government has stated its clear support for the current Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists guidelines, and the organisations contacted did not support the investigation or the offer of testing for women following a single miscarriage for the reasons set out in their responses. Currently, it is only women who suffer recurrent miscarriages (three consecutive miscarriages in a row) in the first trimester who are offered testing or women in the second trimester.

Scottish Care & Information on Miscarriage (SCIM) Management Committee would like an immediate review of this policy to assist in relieving the anxiety and distress caused by the current guidelines. It is important that this is changed as there is no valid medical evidence for this policy.  

My daughter very distressed after two miscarrages and desperately hoping not to have to endure another before any help is available.

the devastating number of miscarriages which women experience should be investigated. It is not good enough to think that any miscarriage is tolerable. Only with improved investigation and research will we see progress for families, leading to fewer miscarriages

My husband and I suffered two miscarriages. we were told it was just mother nature doing her thing!! Thankfully we have three beautiful kids now, but it never leaves you, even after twenty years! Things need to change....

After having 2 and being told that I'd have 2 wait till a had another before the would do anything. Am now 2 scared to even try again. :(

Having had 7 miscarriages I would love to see some changes! So other women don't have to suffer.

My husband and I suffered a silent miscarriage in 2010. We went for our 12 week scan to be told that there was no heart beat. We were ushered to a room where other people were waiting for their scans, which was awful other obviously pregnant women. We were offered three choices how to get rid of our much wanted baby. Our baby left us three days later on valentines day. Only when this happens to you you realize how common miscarriage is. I work for the Nhs and now money is tight, however I think it is unspeakable to be expected to have multiple miscarriages before you are investigated! We were lucky we then went onto have a beautiful baby girl. My mum says everything happens for a reason- she also has had a miscarriage, maybe so! If our first baby had have survived we wouldn't have our daughter !

I've had 5 miscarriages And it's horrific, totally in support of this petition. My love and prayers to everyone suffering from the pain of recurrent miscarriages. Xx
