Petitioner: Mary Hemphill and Ian Reid

Status:
Closed

Date Lodged: 04 May 2015

Petition History:

Summary:

23 June 2015: The Committee took evidence from Mary Hemphill, Ian Reid and John Fegan, Chairman, Scottish Association for Children with Heart Disorders. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and the regional NHS boards. Link to Official Report 23 June 2015

6 October 2015: The Committee agreed to write to the University of Birmingham Primary Care Department. Link to Official Report 6 October 2015

8 December 2015: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government. Link to Official Report 8 December 2015

9 February 2016: The Committee agreed to close the petition, under Rule 15.7, on the basis that the Scottish Government has agreed to consult with the petitioner and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde on the local self-management model they have developed. In doing so, the Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government asking it to meet with the petitioner and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as it committed to do. Written Submissions:

Please sign this petition & help us change the fact that not everyone in Scotland who takes warfarin routinely is supported or enabled to self test and self manage their condition, even where they specifically request to do so. Currently in Scotland only 1% of people receiving warfarin therapy self test.

Good luck with the petition hope they pay attention

Self testing enable patients to have better control of their INR and therefore less likelihood of sustaining a stroke. It also facilitates a wider approach to stroke prevention for the patient by including BP monitoring and activity monitoring

I started self testing over a year ago, now save time not having to fit in appointments around work. Gives peace of mind when on holiday. I would recommend self testing. Good luck with the campaign.

Cannot see any good reason why this is not done immediately
