Holyrood Rocks 2015 was an innovative music competition which aims to increase young people's political engagement. The final was held at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 31 October 2015. The eventual winner of the competition was Gus Harrower.
The Final
The final of Holyrood Rocks took place on Saturday 31st October 2015 in a packed Scottish Parliament. The final was contested by the 8 bands who won their parliamentary heats throughout October 2015. After careful deliberation of each of the fantastic acts, Gus Harrower was crowned winner of Holyrood Rocks 2015.
As a prize for winning, Gus won a recording session at Clyde 1 studios in Glasgow, along with tickets to attend the Young Scot Awards.
The other finalists were: Single By Sunday; Hayley Millar; Silver Coast; Forgotten Drive; Kate Kyle; Amy Louise Rogers; The Vistas.
Thank you to all who attended each of the regional heats and the final in Edinburgh.
About Holyrood Rocks
Holyrood Rocks 2015 was a music competition giving eight of Scotland’s most talented bands and solo acts the chance to play live at the final at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 31 October. The overall winner will receive a recording session at Clyde 1 studios in Glasgow, along with tickets to attend the Young Scot Awards.
As well as the finalists, the audience were treated to a set by special guests Withered Hand. A workshop by song writing and creative industry experts were run alongside an open stage with Edinburgh’s Caro Bridges.
Free transport was offered to those who wanted to come to Edinburgh to support the bands.
