That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Biodiversity Week 2012, which runs from 19 to 27 May 2012 and is being coordinated by Scottish Natural Heritage; encourages people to get involved in the range of activities that are being organised as part of the week by local authorities and NGOs, which will celebrate Scotland's diverse wildlife and landscape; notes that the week will mark International Biodiversity Day on 22 May; considers biodiversity to be crucial to sustaining lives; hopes that the Scottish Government and all EU member states make greater progress on halting the loss of biodiversity through progressing the internationally agreed Aichi biodiversity targets, which were established under the Convention of Biological Diversity and the objectives of the EU biodiversity strategy to 2020, and calls on the Scottish Government to ensure that, as required under the Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2011, all public bodies report on the delivery of their biodiversity duties.

That the Parliament heartily congratulates Burntisland Primary School primary 3s on winning the best film by under-11s at the First Light Awards with their innovative stop-motion film, Granny Mac’s Meringues; notes that this is a story about the Queen travelling to Hisland Island to choose a hat from a famous milliner, Hettie McHattie, but which is lost on the return boat trip; recognises the talent and hard work of pupils in writing the script, building the sets and models and recording voiceovers and filming; congratulates their teacher, Liz Whatmore, who led the project and supported the pupils in their filmmaking, on this success, as well as Red Kite Animations, which provided workshops, and wishes pupils and Burntisland Primary School much success in their future filmmaking.

That the Parliament congratulates Arthur Lawson from Glenrothes in Fife on being named Young Campaigner of the Year by Whizz-Kidz, a national charity that celebrates young disabled role models; recognises that Arthur has been a Whizz-Kidz ambassador for more than three years; notes that, during this time, he has initiated and developed his own campaigns regionally to help Whizz-Kidz achieve its core aims of offering young disabled people the equipment, support and life skills that they need; notes that Arthur also campaigns on behalf of his peers as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament, where he is deputy convener of its equalities committee, and wishes Arthur the very best with future campaigning.
