That the Parliament congratulates Bearsden Academy on winning the European Cansat Competition in Norway against teams from 13 other European nations; notes that the competition was promoted by the European Space Agency with the aim of building a satellite within the confines of a soft drink can, conducting a launch of a rocket up to an altitude of 1km, conducting their missions and landing safely; understands that the pupils were chosen as winners based on their performance throughout the project as well as the final flight operations and results, and considers that this is not only a fantastic achievement for the pupils but also brings great recognition for their school and, indeed, Scotland.

That the Parliament marks the anniversary of the Clydebank Blitz, which, on 13 and 14 March 1941, involved the bombing of what were seen by the Nazis as strategic military targets, including the John Brown shipyard and the Singer sewing machine factory; acknowledges that Clydebank suffered the most concentrated bomb damage of any part of the British Isles during World War II with only seven houses remaining undamaged out of approximately 12,000; further notes that 528 people died during the two-day attack and that 617 people were seriously injured, with hundreds more being injured by blast debris; pays respect to those injured and killed by the raids and recognises the sacrifices made and the role played by the people of Clydebank and Scotland in their contribution to the Allied effort that finally defeated the Axis forces in 1945, and congratulates the town of Clydebank on retaining its commemoration of and links to the events of World War II in its continued and ongoing regeneration.

That the Parliament congratulates Western Wildcats Hockey Club on the completion of its new pitch at Auchenhowie, Milngavie; notes that this project, titled the Wildcats Challenge, has taken four and a half years; recognises the hard work and commitment of all those involved in the project, which has been full of challenges, particularly in terms of fundraising; commends Western Wildcats on building what it considers a top class sporting facility that will benefit the whole community and help promote hockey in the west of Scotland, and wishes Western Wildcats Hockey Club every success in all its future endeavours both on and off the pitch.

That the Parliament congratulates Mr Robert Dickie on being named Clydebank's Citizen of the Year 2012; believes that, due to Mr Dickie’s long-term dedication to voluntary work in the local community, particularly with the Clydebank Asbestos Group and during the UCS work-in, this award is well merited, and, on behalf of the people of Clydebank and Scotland as a whole, thanks Mr Dickie for all of his hard work over the years and hopes that this can continue.

That the Parliament congratulates The Young Americans who performed in A Scottish Spectacular held in the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow and thanks all those at every level in making what is considered a wonderful event a massive success; appreciates what it considers the enthusiasm, energy and sheer talent of The Young Americans, which was picked up and shared by 250 Scottish children from in and around West Dunbartonshire who it believes participated magnificently well in the second part of the show; wishes to put on record its appreciation of the tutoring in the performing arts given by the young American performers to Scottish kids in only three busy days, building vital confidence in the young people in the process, and extends an invitation for a speedy return to Scotland to this group of young Americans who it considers to be undoubtedly the most valuable ambassadors of their nation.

That the Parliament congratulates Gavinburn Primary School and Carleith Primary School on attaining their green flags; welcomes the pupils’ hard work in enhancing their green credentials and believes that this has helped to considerably improve the environment of their schools and local communities; considers that this shows that pupils and schools take environmental matters seriously and that they recognise the importance of the environment in their communities, and believes that the Green Flag Award and the Eco-Schools programme have encouraged pupils and schools to take a wider interest in improving the environment.
