That the Parliament congratulates Angus Citizens Advice Bureau on being awarded £10,000 by the Bank of Scotland Foundation's Small Grants Programme; understands that the programme, which was created in November 2010, promotes financial awareness and gives money advice; believes that sound advice services will be increasingly important as the UK Government’s welfare reforms unfold and households face changes to and cuts in their benefits, and welcomes the £1.6 million in charitable donations that have been awarded by the Bank of Scotland Foundation since 2010.

That the Parliament welcomes the recent announcement of GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) intention to invest £100 million in its Montrose and Irvine bases; considers this to be a testament to the success of the manufacturing and development bases in Scotland; further believes that this investment is evidence of GSK’s long-term commitment to operating in Scotland; understands that, as well as safeguarding 300 jobs in Montrose, the investment has the potential to create up to 200 additional employment opportunities; respects the important work that GSK continues to carry out across a wide field of medicine, and is of the opinion that this announcement consolidates Scotland’s position as an international leader in drug research and manufacturing.

That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Hydro Electric’s announcement that, regardless of age, income or electricity provider, any householder may be eligible for free cavity wall and loft insulation; believes that, as well as contributing to reducing Scotland’s carbon footprint, this could save households up to £310 annually, and welcomes the news that the offer also includes those living in remote areas of Scotland, including the islands.

That the Parliament congratulates CLIC Sargent Scotland on raising £19,633 at its New Year's Day "dip with a nip" event at Stonehaven harbour; believes that this much needed money will go toward helping children in Aberdeenshire who have cancer and enable CLIC Sargent to continue its work with the children and their families; notes that every day 10 families in Scotland are told that their child has cancer or leukaemia, and commends the work of CLIC Sargent, which funds a specialist nurse and social worker and provides help and support to over 30 families in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire every year.
