Background Info

The children of Barrhead were promised a new school 3 years ago. The school should have been opened by now. But due to legal delays building work had not started. Now, after the legal issues had been resolved, money has been suspended from the Scottish Futures Trust, the impact this has had is that construction can not begin until the money is released.

The current school is not fit for purpose. Nicola Sturgeon published a document A Stronger Scotland in September 2015. She states that "children in all parts of Scotland-whether in our least or most affluent areas-have a fair chance to flourish." Barrhead is in desperate need of a new high school so that the children can flourish. She also states "school communities are most likely to flourish when the children have good quality, warm, comfortable places to learn." Our children have dreams and aspirations and deserve the opportunity to learn in an environment that will nurture their hopes for the future.
