Background Info

From my experience, I have reason to be concerned about the way children with additional support needs (ASN) are restrained in schools. I am also concerned that the nature of these concerns cannot be adequately investigated by, for example, the Procurator Fiscal’s office, as it is my understanding that disabled children are not considered to be credible witnesses. It is my belief therefore that our ASN children, the ones who are most vulnerable, aren’t protected whilst in schools.

I believe that in order to protect children with additional support needs, CCTV cameras should be installed everywhere apart from toilets or personal care areas in all ASN schools. I also think that full time social work presence should be established in all ASN schools.
