This issue has been to the petitions committee in the past and the minister has attempted to resolve the solution by a method of netting to protect the route from closure. On its very first test the netting has not stopped the route from being closed and the emergency route come into action. Whilst this is a temporary solution to have the old military road used as a diversion route it is not satisfactory in the long term which leaves an already fragile area vulnerable
